SLC With the Family: Seven Fun Places
If you’re visiting Salt Lake City with the kids in tow, you’ll need a plan for family-friendly spots lie beyond the Salt Lake City International Airport or Interstate 15. Obvious sites include the Hogle Zoo, Clark Planetarium, and Leonardo museum, but we’re here to give you a few more ideas:
1. Discovery Gateway
A 60,000-square-foot children’s museum, Discovery Gateway is set in downtown Salt Lake City within the Gateway Mall. Hands-on exhibits abound, and permanent exhibits include Kid's Eye View, Story Factory, and the Garden.

Combine the old school carnival with a state-of-the-art theme park and you’ve got the Lagoon Amusement Park. Kids love the thrill rides, historic carousel, an interactive Pioneer Village, the Lagoon Opera House, and the Lagoon-A-Beach water park.

Brought the little sports fan, or better yet, athlete? Head to downtown SLC and grab a seat in EnergySolutions Arena for a high-action game with NBA’s Utah Jazz.
6. Utah Olympic Park
The site of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Utah Olympic Park features the Comet Bobsled and Rocket Skeleton rides during the winter, plus the Extreme Zipline, the Alpine Slide, and the Freestyle Fly ski jump during the summer.

One of many great Utah festivals, SLC’s Pioneer Day features a rodeo, marathon, and perfect for visiting families, the Days of '47 Parade. Kids love the colorful floats, horses, clowns, live music, and the chance to shed their indoor voices.
