Visiting Moab, Southeastern & Central Utah

Moab in southeastern Utah cools down in fall making Utah’s red rock country ideal for outdoor fun. Famous for its slick rock trails through stunning red rock formations, Moab is an ideal fall getaway destination. Moab hosts the 2012 Furious3 Mountain Bike Stage Race the end of September, followed by October’s Annual Jeep Jamboree Moab and the Moab Canyons Endurance Ride, among town events. Runners converge in eastern Utah for the Moab Trail Marathon and Moab Senior Games in November. Extend your outdoor fun with a late fall getaway to Moab. Outdoor fun and events fill central Utah’s calendar this season.

Outdoor fun abounds through central Utah. The Rocky Mountain ATV/UTV Jamboree fills the streets of Richfield with riders from across the country. Join family along with old and new friends, for rides along the Paiute and Gooseberry trail systems – there is more than 275 miles of trails to enjoy. Celebrating its 20th year, the 2012 Jamboree is September 17th through the 21st, with Richfield hosting riders.

The Sevier Valley Center in Richfield is a central Utah gathering spot. Offering entertainment, hosting local school sports and events, and bringing shows and exhibitions to the Sevier Valley - check the schedule when you visit Richfield for current happenings. Fall brings the Central Utah Bridal Fair at the end of September, and November’s Big Boys Toys Expo. The 2012 fall concerts include local favorites Jericho Road and Due West. For Christmas, popular Utah musician Kurt Bestor performs early December.

Travelers between northern and southern Utah along Interstate 15, find Fillmore and Beaver convenient stopping points. Beaver hotels include two Best Western hotels and Fillmore hotels include one Best Western hotel. I-15 drivers have great options for a good night's sleep.

Twenty miles east of Beaver, Eagle Point Resort is Utah’s newest ski and snowboard resort. Subject to the whims of Mother Nature, Central Utah ski enthusiasts are in high anticipation of a December opening date. A well-kept secret for Utah skiers, a day at Eagle Point offers great skiing in a friendly crowd free environment.

Another gem for central Utah travelers is the town of Torrey. Located in Wayne County, eight miles from Capitol Reef National Park, Torrey is well known among Utah artists for its inspiring scenery and landscapes. With mild temperatures year round, Torrey makes a great fall and winter getaway for hiking in the solitude of Capitol Reef.

A gateway to Utah’s Castle Country, Price is a commercial and service hub for Carbon County. Enjoy fall events in Price, including Oktoberfest 2012 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church Community Center. The Notre Dame community center hosts Oktoberfest September 28th and 29th, featuring a weekend of fun with Mexican and Italian dinners, entertainment and games.

Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, closes its 2012 season the same weekend with the Wild West Modified Tour. Located near the Price Airport on the east side of town, races begin at 7pm. As they say, the dirt action is the attraction at Desert Thunder Raceway – come see the Castle Country Clash, the end of September.
