Visiting Moab, Southeastern & Central Utah
Central Utah residents and visitors welcome spring with adventures on the Paiute ATV Trail. Beaver, on the southwest corner of the trail, is conveniently located on Interstate 15 providing easy access to the Paiute Trail. Snow on the Pahvants and the Sevier Plateau limit riders to trails at lower elevations. The central Utah community of Price welcomes the season opener at Desert Thunder Raceway in April, one of five weekends of Carbon County racing. Many spring travelers heading southeast from Price are en route to Moab and the surrounding Red Rock country of Grand County. Central Utah comes alive in spring and summer.
When you’re not on an ATV adventure, check out the Beaver City Horse Races at the Canyon Breeze Training Center. The 2013 season races kick-off Memorial Day weekend with a 1pm post time, with July races the 7th, 21st and 24th. The Beaver City races conclude with a run on August 4th. Anglers traveling to central, take note Minersville Reservoir, 10-miles west of Beaver hosts the Barrett American Bass fishing tournament.
Moab, in east central Utah, gets an early start on 2013 spring activities with several outdoor challenges. The Canyonlands Half Marathon and 5-mile Run marks its 38th year mid-March, the Moab 100 & 50K Ultra Runs and the 24 Hours of Utah Endurance Races happen March 23rd & 24th. April brings the Dog Agility Trials to Moab’s Old Spanish Trail Arena, April 12th through the 21st.
As the weather warms, Moab events fill the end of spring calendar. Enjoy downtown Moab at the 2013 Moab Arts Festival on Memorial Day weekend – May 25th and 26th. Held at Swanny City Park, this is the 21st year for the event. Moab Arts Festival is a family friendly event featuring the Kid-o-Rama, music and entertainment, and a diversity of artists showcasing their wares.
Well known Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are convenient to travelers to Moab. Take your time traveling, and explore central Utah’s lesser-known landmarks. Nine Mile Canyon, east of Price, is home to the greatest concentration of rock art sites in the US. Dead Horse Point is another worthwhile stop located 30 miles outside Moab. Be sure to explore central Utah’s landmarks on your travels.
