Visiting Moab, Southeastern & Central Utah
Fall in central Utah brings ideal weather for an ATV adventure along the Paiute ATV Trail – the largest ATV and recreational vehicle trail in the U.S. As winter snow caps the peaks of Fishlake National Forest, riders stick to miles of lower elevation trails surrounding Richfield, Monroe, and Beaver to the west.
Eagle Point Resort, 18 miles east of Beaver in the Tushar Mountains, is ready for the 2013-2014 ski and snowboard season. Enjoy the remaining dry sunny days of fall to hike and mountain bike the trails of the Tushar Mountains, and wax the skis and boards for the opening of winter skiing at Eagle Point.
Beaver, along with other rural central Utah towns, has a history of its own – and often surprises visitors with its heritage and culture. Explore the Beaver Territorial Courthouse Museum, exhibiting former residents Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of the television, and Butch Cassidy, who was born in Beaver. Visitors make sure to stop at the Beaver Cheese Factory for a fresh dairy snack. The DFA Cache Valley Cheese factory store is a must stop destination.
Nephi and Fillmore, small towns north of Beaver on Interstate 15, make convenient stopping points for travelers through Central Utah. Located at the foot of the Pahvant Mountain Range, the community of Fillmore was the territorial capital of Utah. The original Utah Statehouse building remains in Fillmore, and is maintained for visitors as a State of Utah historic site and museum.
Nephi, an hour north of Fillmore on I-15, is a hub of activity for Juab County and gateway to Yuba State Park for travelers from the north. Called "the Friendly City at the Crossroads of Utah," Nephi services travelers of Interstate 15 and State Road 132. Fall and winter in Nephi bring Juab High School Wasp’s athletics to the forefront of the community. From girls’ volleyball and fall football to boys and girl’s basketball, the JHS Wasps keep the community cheering all season long.
East of Nephi on Highway 6, the community of Price is the heart of Utah’s Castle County. Home of the College of Eastern Utah and its Prehistoric Museum, Price is also a gateway to the premier recreation of the Manti-LaSal National Forest and the prehistoric rock art of Nine Miles Canyon.
