Visiting Moab, Southeastern & Central Utah
Central Utah spring means outdoor fun, from skiing and running to rodeo and ATV riding. Get the last runs of the ski season in at Eagle Point while spring conditions are prime. Eagle Point, east of Beaver, targets April 6th as closing day for the 2014 season. The slopes are open Thursday through Sunday, and with great snow and lift ticket prices at $25, there is no better time to hit the trails. Visit Beaver and Beaver County over Memorial Day Weekend for opening day of the Beaver City Horse Races. Canyon Breeze Training Center hosts the races with the first day of the 2014 season on May 26th.
East in Carbon County, the city of Price hosts the Lunatic Triathlon, a night event held in the light of a full moon. The 2014 sprint distance triathlon is June 13th and varies from the traditional swim, bike, run format, with a run through well-lit downtown Price streets staring the event. The Lunatic Triathlon finish with the swim at Price City Desert Wave Pool in Washington Park – time to be a lunatic in training!
The Castle Gate Posse, a SASS affiliated shooting club, makes its home in Price. The Cowboy action shooting club events are held southwest of Price at the North Springs Shooting Range, in the premier Cowboy action shooting town of Castle Gate. The 2014 SASS Utah State Black Powder Shootout is hosted at Castle Gate On May 17th.
Central Utah, with hundreds of miles of trails through scenic landscapes, is a mecca for ATV riders. The community of Fillmore hosts the 2014 National Jamboree June 24th through the 28th. National Jamboree events take place at the East Millard Fair Grounds, the gateway to the Head of the Paiute ATV Trail. The fun includes guided rides, an ATV/UTV Obstacle Course, mud bogs, and breakfasts and dinners at the Fair Grounds.
Yuba State Park, 25 miles south of Nephi, makes for a great Saturday family outing on May 10th. Yuba State Park hosts the 2014 Scavanger Hunt and Treasure Dig. Join a day of fun at Yuba’s Oasis Campground day use pavilion for an afternoon of following clues, and digging up prizes.
