Desert News Marathon
Race Through Downtown Salt Lake City
Fully sanctioned by the USATF, and a Boston Marathon qualifier race, the 10K Desert News Marathon begins on the University of Utah campus, at Research Park on Chipeta Way, and is a fantastic way to celebrate Utah Pioneer Day.
Northern Utah cities like Sandy, Park City, and Tooele are in premier locations yielding swift access to the Desert News Marathon – as much fun for the spectators as it is for the runners. There are prizes awarded for the male and female runners who place first, second and third – all participants receive a souvenir t-shirt.
The Desert News Marathon also features the Read Today 5K Fitness Walk. Held on the same day, the Read Today 5K Fitness Walk is a fun-for-all-ages, non-competitive, and untimed walk that allows anyone to help celebrate Utah Pioneer Day – it starts at the EnergySolutions Arena in downtown Salt Lake City.
