Antelope Island State Park

A unique Utah state park, Antelope Island State Park is located in northern Utah on the Great Salt Lake. Located on Antelope Island just west of Salt Lake City, the park covers 28,800 acres.

Established in 1969, Antelope Island State Park is ideal for hiking, biking, birdwatching, swimming, picnicking and more. The park is home to Fielding Garr Ranch, the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival, and the annual Balloon Stampede.

Clark Planetarium

Established in 2003, the Clark Planetarium is set in downtown Salt Lake City in the Gateway District. Clark is home to the ATK IMAX Theater and Hansen Dome Theater – the nation’s first "pitless" digital dome as a planetarium.

Replacing the historic Old Hansen Planetarium, the Clark Planetarium also includes a 10,000-square-foot science exhibit area. Permanent displays include Science on a Sphere, Newton’s Daydream, and more – all in northern Utah.

Days of '47 Parade

Orginally established in 1847, The Days of '47 Parades celebrate the first pioneers arriving in Salt Lake City. The settlers, led by Brigham Young, made their way to the Utah Territory to create a new life – and serves as inspiration for today's festivities.

Bring your sleeping bags and camp-out on the streets of downtown Salt Lake City the night before the parade for even more fun. Find your favorite spot along the parade route and be ready for colorful floats, marching bands, and performing groups. Days of '47 Rodeo

An annual PRCA sanctioned rodeo, the Days of '47 Rodeo is a summer-time event in Salt Lake City. Set in northern Utah, the rodeo remains one of the largest rodeos in the state.

Accompanied by the Days of '47 Parade, visitors may celebrate pioneers first arrival in 1847 by attending one of Utah's oldest traditions. The Days of '47 Rodeo features saddle bronc riders, bareback riders, team roping, bull riding, tie-down roping, and steer wrestling.

Deseret News Marathon

A USATF sanctioned and certified marathon, the Deseret News Marathon courses through the streets of Salt Lake City. The marathon route starts in Emigration Canyon, heads through the east side of Salt Lake City, and finishes along the Pioneer Day parade route.

As a Boston Marathon qualifying event, Deseret inspires many participants to reach their timed goal in order to qualify for Boston. Runners looking for a shorter event may opt for the 10K race starting at Research Park, or even the 5K event starting at EnergySolutions Arena.

Discovery Gateway

Exploring science, art, and the humanities, Discovery Gateway is located in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Originally known as the Childrens Museum of Utah, all of the museum’s exhibits, many hands-on and interactive, focus on kids.

The museum hosts permanent and traveling exhibits from around the nation. Previous exhibits included Robots: The Interactive Exhibition and Sesame Street Presents: The Body, while Kid's Eye View and Story Factory are popular permanent draws.

EnergySolutions Arena

Seating over 19,000 sports fans, EnergySolutions Arena, known fondly as ESA, is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Owned by the estate of Larry H. Miller, Jazz Basketball Investors, Inc., the facility is the home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, as well as the AFL’s Utah Blaze.

In February of 2002, ESA was a venue for the XIX Olympic Winter Games. Today, basketball devotees gather around statues in the arena’s courtyard of NBA greats John Stockton and Karl Malone, the Utah Jazz’s most celebrated stars.

Maverik Center

Set in West Valley City, the Maverik Center is a multi-purpose arena in northern Utah. A 10,100-seat venue near Salt Lake City, the E Center was a site for the 2002 Winter Paralympics.

Owned by the City of West Valley City, and operated by the Centennial Management Group, Inc., the Maverik was opened in 1997 – and ideal for major sporting events like hockey, basketball, boxing, and wrestling.

Miller Motorsports Park

With the seating capacity for over 8,000 race fans, Miller Motorsports Park is located just outside of Tooele, Utah – a half-hour southeast of Salt Lake City. Originally intended as a novelty track for Utah Jazz owner Larry H. Miller, the site was redesigned by Alan Wilson to accommodate auto, motorcycle, bicycle and kart racing.

The park's four asphalt courses regularly host major events like the FIM: Superbike World Championship, the Grand-Am: Rolex Sports Car Series, the AMA Superbike Championship, and the Pirelli World Challenge. Miller Motorsports Park also plays host to the trademark time-trial stage during the Tour de Utah.

Natural History Museum of Utah

Attracting around 78,000 visitors each year, the Natural History Museum of Utah is part of the University of Utah’s Rio Tinto Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Through the work of its four curators – Duncan Metcalfe, Ph.D., Eric Rickart, Ph.D., Mitchell Power, Ph.D., Randall Irmis, Ph.D. – the museum’s mission is to shed light on the natural world and the humans within.

Visitors to the museum will find extensive collections throughout the Anthropology, Biology, and Geology sections, which together contain millions of artifacts and animal specimens. A popular destination for school tours, the museum offers a wealth of educational programs and even after-school, Saturday, and summer classes.

Salt Lake City International Airport

A joint civil-military facility, the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is the largest airport in Utah, and serves the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Set in western Salt Lake City, SLC serves as the fourth largest hub for Delta Air Lines.

SLC supports other major airlines like Southwest, United, American, and Frontier. Established in 1911, SLC is the country’s 21st busiest airport in terms of passengers, and supports nearly 500 departures per day.

Sundance Film Festival

Established in 1981, the famous Sundance Film Festival is held each January in Park City, located in northern Utah. Set Ogden and Salt Lake City, SFF showcases American-made films from independent artists worldwide, and promotes Utah film making.

Competitive sections of the Sundance Film Festival include documentary films, short films, and feature films. Throughout SFF history, many independent filmmakers have showcased their work, including Quentin Tarantino and Steven Soderbergh.

Temple Square

Owned and operated by the LDS Church, Temple Square is a 10-acre destination perfect for a look at some of the history pertaining to the church and its ties to the area. Set in Salt Lake City, ideal for visitors from Ogden, North Salt Lake, and Sandy, the Temple is one of Utah's most popular destinations.

Temple Square is home of the Salt Lake Tabernacle – don't miss out on a performance from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Plan a visit to the Family History Library and the Church History Museum to gain some perspective on the LDS influence in SLC and the entirety of Utah.

University of Utah

Established in 1850, the University of Utah is a public, flagship university featuring over 100 undergraduate majors, and over 90 graduate degree programs. The 1,534-acre campus is located in Salt Lake City in northern Utah, and includes the Utah Museum of Natural History and the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.

The U is also home to the famed Utah Utes athletics department – featuring 11 women's and 7 men's varsity teams. On-campus sports venues include the Jon M. Huntsman Center, and Rice–Eccles Stadium – the site for Pac-12 Conference football games.

Utah Arts Festival

Be a part of history in Salt Lake City by attending the Utah Arts Festival. The event has been a celebration of arts, music, and food in downtown Salt Lake City since it debuted in June of 1977.

Spanning four days, the festival has grown to become the state's largest outdoor arts event, drawing approximately 80,000 people. The Utah Arts Festival features more than 100 performing arts groups, over 140 visual artists, over 18 culinary artists, five stages of live performances, and a film festival – and kids have a blast in Art Yard.

Utah Museum of Fine Arts

Featuring over 17,000 works of art, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts is located on the University of Utah campus, near Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum offers exhibits, activities, and tours to visitors of all ages.

Under the direction of Gretchen Dietrich, past exhibits have included Splendid Heritage: Perspective on American Indian Art, and the popular Andy Warhol's Dream America: Screen prints from the Collection of the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation.

Utah State Capitol

Completed in 1916, the Utah State Capitol building is located on Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City, Utah. As the house of government for the state of Utah, it holds the chambers and offices of the Utah State Legislature, Governor, Attorney General and more.

Designed by Richard A. Kletting, its striking neoclassical Corinthian architecture most notably features a dome which reaches 285 feet above Capitol Hill. Visitors are invited to the first floor of the building, which offers exhibits, a gift shop, and tours through the building’s lavish interior.
