Annual Events in Northern Utah
Celebrations in SLC, Park City & More
Many well-known cities are located in northern Utah, including Provo, Park City, and of course, Salt Lake City. A scenic and mountainous region of the country, northern Utah yields annual events highlighting the arts and heritage of the Beehive State, and around the world.
Probably the most popular festival in Utah, the Sundance Film Festival is an international-level event primarily set in Park City.
Held over 10 days each January, the snowy and quaint town of Park City plays host to the largest independent film festival in the country. Established in 1978, Sundance features short and feature length American films in the famed Egyptian Theatre, Sundance Resort, and the city of Ogden.
Set across the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest from Park City, SLC is home to many annual festivals, including Pioneer Day, the Deseret News Marathon, and the Utah Arts Festival. Established in 1977, the three-day Utah Arts Festivals draws roughly 80,000 attendees to downtown SLC.
Enjoy June’s warmth as you browse nearly 150 vendor booths featuring local artwork, gifts, and food. Check out more than 100 performances in Washington Square and Library Square, and enjoy your time at the “largest outdoor multi-disciplinary arts event in Utah.”
Attendees of the Utah Arts Festivals need not go too far, as America's Freedom Festival is held on Independence in nearby Provo. The largest Fourth of July celebration in the state, America's Freedom Festival features the famed Stadium of Fire – a massive performance event held at LaVell Edwards Stadium on the Brigham Young University campus. Headliners have included the Beach Boys, Brad Paisley, and the Jonas Brothers.
