Ski Your Way Through the Beehive State

If you see skiing in your future, why not head to the “Greatest Snow on Earth” – Utah. The Beehive State is home to 14 downhill ski areas and several national parks blanketed each year with skiable snow. Whether spending some time trekking through southern Utah, or visiting the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, incredible skiing is not far from your feet.

Once you’ve hit the mountain, now it’s time to hit the beautiful parks of Utah. You can choose from winter activities in Bryce Canyon National Park like snowshoeing, sledding and winter hiking. Don’t hesitate; start packing for your ski trip to Utah – full of hot chocolate and even hotter ski areas.

Beaver Mountain

Set in northern Utah, Beaver Mountain is a ski area nestled in the Bear River Mountains along the Logan Canyon Scenic Byway. The city of Logan is less than 30 miles from the Cache National Forest’s Logan Canyon and Beaver Mountain – where visitors are encouraged to throw on those colorful sweaters and hit the slopes.

Grab your skis and snowboards and head to Beaver Mountain this winter. Home to nearly 700 skiable acres and a vertical drop of 1,600 feet, Beaver Mountain is sure to impress you and your family one the temperatures drop. Choose your favorite of all 47 ski runs, and be sure to take advantage of night skiing at Little Beaver Lift. Let loose at Beaver Mountain’s two terrain parks, and take in the incredible view of northern Utah from one of four chair lifts.

So head north when visiting Utah – way, way north – and spend your winter at Beaver Mountain.

Eagle Point

One of the newer ski areas in Utah, Eagle Point is an incredible winter escape just 20 miles from the city of Beaver. Set in the southwestern part of the state in the lower half of the Fishlake National Forest, Eagle Point hosts everything from unforgettable ski runs to restaurants, shopping and more snow sports than you can handle – but you should still try.

Eagle Point provides its guests with five lifts in the area – granting access to over 600 acres of skiable land. Try as many as you want of the 42 available runs, check out the terrain park, or zip down one of two tubing lanes at Eagle Point. Runs range from expert level to beginner, so bring the family or plan a trip with some friends – just make sure you’re at Eagle Point this winter.

Skiing in Greater Salt Lake

If you’re looking for ski areas in the Salt Lake City area, then you’re looking at quite the menu. Ski areas abound in Salt Lake, from Sundance in Provo to Park City Mountain in, you guessed it, Park City. For the hardcore skier, head to the Alta Ski Area in Little Cottonwood Canyon near Sandy, while snowboarding enthusiasts can get their fill at The Canyons.

Grab a spot on the 125-passenger Aerial Tram at the Snowbird ski area in Little Cottonwood Canyon, and make your way down one of 89 total runs – including the 2.5-mile Chip’s Run. Deer Valley is yet another area for skiers only, set east of Salt Lake City – known for its famous Gondola and 113 total runs. For a little taste history, head to the Brighton ski area in Big Cottonwood Canyon – one of the oldest ski area in the nation. Brighton neighbors the Solitude ski area – also set in Big Cottonwood Canyon with 1,200 skiable acres and the 3.5-mile Honeycomb Trail.

When skiing your way through Salt Lake City, have a stay in one of its many communities like Coalville, Lehi and Ogden. From North Salt Lake all the way to Springville, Tooele and Uintah, SLC is ready to accommodate all skiers, guests and residents this winter.
