Visiting SLC & Northern Utah

Summer fun in Northern Utah includes  your choice outdoor activities. Water skiers rise early to catch ‘glass’ on the north side of Coalville at Echo Reservoir, Jordanelle State Park, east of Park City fills with boaters and fishermen, and families flock to Utah Lake, west of Provo for days of water recreation. The Cache National Forest and Bear Lake, east of Logan fills with hikers, mountain bikers and families on lakeside getaways. Vernal in northeastern Utah, is a gateway to Dinosaur National Monument and popular Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. Load your bike, pack your hiking shoes and hitch up the boat for Utah summer fun.

Among northern Utah’s biggest events, is America’s Freedom Festival in Provo. The 2012 Freedom Festival features the July 4th Stadium of Fire, with The Beach Boys and Scotty McCreery entertaining crowds at BYU Lavell Edwards Stadium. From July 2nd through the 4th, the Utah County Government Complex in Provo hosts Freedom Days, including live entertainment, unique food, arts, crafts and jewelry vendors, along with kids activities and a Saturday parade. Runners don’t miss the Freedom Run early morning the 4th of July.

Salt Lake City honors Independence Day with traditional celebrations, but pulls out all stops for The Days of ’47 Celebration, culminating July 24th, 2012. Excitement builds early in the month with events like the All Horse Parade on July 10th at Sandy Towne Center, and the Days of ’47 Youth Parade and Festival on July 14th. The Days of ’47 Safelight Rodeo is one of PRCA’s top events. The rodeo competition kicks off July 19th and runs through July 24th.
