Visiting SLC & Northern Utah
The northern Utah Wasatch Front is enjoying winter from Lehi, to Layton, to Logan, and beyond. Winter visitors fly into Salt Lake International Airport and are within an hour’s drive of 11 Utah ski resorts. Boasting the Greatest Snow on Earth, a winter visit to northern Utah makes a spectacular getaway for skiers, snowboarders, and winter sports enthusiasts.
In the far north of the Beehive State, Beaver Mountain, North America’s oldest family owned resort, is filled with Logan and Cache Valley skiers along with students from the Utah State University. Traveling south on Interstate 15 toward Salt Lake City, Powder Mountain, Snowbasin, and Wolf Mountain are favorites of Ogden area residents and communities including Uintah and Layton. Weber State University students also take advantage of the proximity to enjoy weekday runs on the slopes.
Take advantage of Salt Lake City’s world-class restaurants, shopping and entertainment with downtown accommodations. With the resorts of Solitude, Brighton, Alta, and Snowbird minutes away take your pick, or ski a different resort each day. South of Salt Lake City in Provo, locals join students from Brigham Young University at Sundance a few miles up scenic Provo Canyon for days on the slopes and après ski drinks at the Owl Bar.
East of Salt Lake City, turn south off I-80 at Kimball Junction and discover the former mining town of Park City and surrounding resorts of Deer Valley and the Canyons. Park City hosts January’s Sundance Film Festival, crowding streets and venues with movies stars, directors and Hollywood insiders. The 2014 Sundance Film Festival is January 16th through 26th.
The community of Park City hosts the 3rd Annual Round Valley Roundup on Saturday February 15th. The 2014 roundup is a cross-country ski event for skiers of all experience levels. Featuring 5K, 20K, and 40K courses with no gain more than 200 feet; this is an opportunity to experience back-country skiing at its best.
Celebrate spring and wrap up the 2014 winter season at Spring Gruv at Canyons Resort. 10 days of events and concerts, as well as the famous Pond Skimming Contest, make for great spring event in the mountains. The 2014 Spring Gruv is the 7th year for the fun and runs March 21st through 30th.
