Experience Utah Valley's spring in bloom at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, showcasing 55 acres of gardens filled with blooming tulips. From April 18th to May 3rd, the 2014 Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival celebrates the season’s first blooms. Weekends feature music, food, and vendors, along with daily garden tours and demonstrations.
Shoppers traveling through Lehi and Utah Valley now take exit 284 east to the new Outlets at Traverse Mountain. Look for the ultra modern Adobe campus along Interstate 15, a landmark for the exit, along with the Lehi Cabela’s outdoor recreation super store.
Brighton Ski Resort, at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon directly east of Midvale in Salt Lake County, hosts the 2014 Wasatch Powder Keg March 7th through 9th. Part of the Subaru Vertfest Tour presented by Outdoor Research, Utah’s Powder Keg features clinics on steep mountain safety, and mountain photography, along with live music, food, and beverages.
Powder Mountain, northeast of Layton and Ogden in the Wasatch Mountains, hosts its 16th annual Spring Session and end-of-season party on April 12th. Prior to closing the 2014 season, Powder Mountain hosts a Military Appreciation Ski Day on March 21st, and the Utah Special Olympics on March 15th. Visitors are humbled by the joy and effort of the Special Olympic athletes – see the action at Powder Mountains Sundown Lift.
Northern Utah spring weather is ideal for outdoor exercise and fun. Set your training for two outstanding spring events. The 2014 Salt Lake City Marathon, Half Marathon, Bike Tour & 5K is April 19th. The 2014 Zion’s Bank Ogden Marathon follows on May 17th. Experience two great marathons before summer arrives.
Join the start of the Salt Lake City Marathon on South Wasatch Drive near the University of Utah, and celebrate the finish in downtown Salt Lake’s Washington Square. Join the finish line festival at Liberty Park for an afternoon of music, vendors, and food. The Ogden Marathon events feature scenic courses including routes through Ogden Canyon along the banks of the Ogden River. Events finish in downtown Ogden on Historic 25th Street and Grant Avenue.
Take a step back into northern Utah’s history and heritage over Memorial Day Weekend near Logan. The Old Ephraim Mountain Men & Women host the 2014 Cache Valley Rendezvous. Visit encampments in Blacksmith’s Fork Canyon May 23rd through 26th, for an authentic glimpse of pre-1840 life in northern Utah.
