Visiting SLC & Northern Utah | Spring 2015
The urban hub of northern Utah, Salt Lake City has grown into a true cultural melting pot. This spring, SLC boasts a variety of special events and festivals celebrating a diversity of cultures.
Festivities in observation of Chinese New Year go from February 21st to the 27th in venues all across the city. Visit J. Wong’s Thai & Chinese Bistro in downtown Salt Lake City to usher in the Year of the Sheep with a sampling of traditional dishes while enjoying authentic dance performances and more.
Dig into Salt Lake City’s charm by participating in the 2015 Amazing Scavenger Hunt Adventure. Think: the Amazing Race meets a three-hour tour of the city. Teams make their way to landmarks and lesser-known gems with a smartphone as their guide, every day of the week, now through June 30th.
Sports fans in Salt Lake City are in for a lot of excitement this spring. The Utah Jazz host high-flying NBA action at EnergySolutions Arena. Check the schedule during your visit to make sure you get a chance to witness the excitement before the Jazz play their last home game of the 2014-2015 season on April 13th against Western Conference foes, the Dallas Mavericks.
Major League Soccer is quickly growing in popularity and Real Salt Lake is the pride of northern Utah soccer fans. Gather at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy to cheer on Real Salt Lake at home games – the season kicks off March 15th and goes through October 17th, when the team hosts FC Dallas to close out the season.
Then, February 27th to March 1st, the 2015 Spring US Snowboarding & Freeskiing Grand Prix takes over Park City Mountain Resort in Park City, drawing the best ski and snowboarding athletes in the world to take on the resort’s award-winning Eagle Superpipe and King’s Crown Slopestyle Course.
Of course, you don’t have to leave all the fun to the pros – northern Utah and the SLC area are home to a bounty of ski areas for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels. Hit the slopes at Alta Ski Area, convenient to Midvale and Sandy visitors, Sundance Ski Resort, north of Springville, or Beaver Mountain Ski Area, just north or Logan.
