Visiting SLC & Northern Utah

Spring in Salt Lake City, now that’s a good idea. From the quaint Main Street of nearby Park City to a thrilling game with the Utah Jazz, Salt Lake City is an adventure for any visitor. Downtown Salt Lake City has an unmistakable collection of shops, restaurants and historical landmarks in the shadows of Historic Temple Square. Get ready for plates of spicy delights – Salt Lake City’s Mexican food scene is hard matched. Lace up your hiking boots for a voyage to Ensign Peak – a short hike ideal for families or beginners – near the Utah State Capitol Building for a spectacular view of the Great Salt Lake. You won’t forget a moment in SLC this spring.

Meet and greet the heart of Salt Lake City with a Downtown Walking Tour or warm up the wallet for some Shopping at Broadway Shopping District or Trolley Square. Art lovers must visit the many galleries in SLC, including the contemporary works at Blonde Grizzly and the fine art at Hope Gallery. Spend a morning exploring downtown, but don’t look too far for lunch.

Head hungry to one of three locations of Red Iguana – “home of killer Mexican food.” This award winning eatery suggests you try one of their signature dishes like the Pollo A La Moreliana or an extraordinary enchilada. For more of a Salt Lake tradition, try Ruth’s Diner – open since 1930 in Emigration Canyon. Start your day with Ruth’s Famous Mile High Biscuits and Country Gravy, or just point to one of the many delicious omelets on the menu. With even a Vegan portion of the menu, Ruth’s has something for everyone. You won’t go home hungry this spring.

Salt Lake City’s outdoor recreation is best felt on two feet and two wheels. Mountain bikers are more than welcome to explore this lush playground by biking two miles from Elbow Fork in Midvalley straight on to lunch at the Terrace Picnic Area. Hikers love the two-mile treks in Mill Creek Canyon like the Desolation Trail aiming toward an overlook of Salt Lake Valley. But the outdoor fun doesn’t stop there.

Bring your inner outdoorsman to the Utah International Sportsmen’s Exposition held March 17th through March 20th. The South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy is annually packed with over 400 companies attracting pursuers in fishing, hunting and traveling. Have some fun this year with the DuckDogs Pond & Contest or check out the new Eastmans’ Trophy Deer Display. Take advantage of free on-site parking, hands-on exhibits and the Best Western hotel in Sandy less than two miles from the center.

From a hot dish at the Red Iguana to an exhilarating day spent downtown, you’ll find Salt Lake City is just getting warmed up.
