Annual Events in Southern Utah

Celebration in St. George, Cedar City & More

Southern Utah knows how to show you a good time thanks to its annual rodeos, art festivals, and even some Shakespeare.

Neighboring Utah parks like Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Dixie National Forest, towns like St. George, Cedar City, and Bryce Canyon City easily couple annual celebrations with some stunning backdrops.

Held in late March, the two-day St. George Art Festival in set in St. George Town Square and features more than 100 vendors. Established in 1980, the festival is located on Main Street in central St. George, and draws more than 30,000 attendees. The St. George Art Festival features not only great artwork, but a kids zone, delicious food, and spectacular live entertainment.

If it’s more live entertainment you want, the Utah Shakespearean Festival is set just northeast in Cedar City. Established in 1961, the event is a summer and fall festival held at Southern Utah University from late June to late October.

Plays take place at the Auditorium Theatre, Randall L. Jones Theatre, and the Adams Shakespearean Theatre – a near replica of the famed Globe Theatre. Take advantage of backstage tours, literary and production seminars, and the Greenshow – a pre-show performance held on the lawn of the Adams Theatre.

Now it’s time to get rowdy. Head to Bryce Canyon City within the Bryce Canyon National Park, and check out the Bryce Canyon Country Rodeo this summer. Hosted by Best Western Ruby’s Inn, the event is held at the Ruby's Inn Rodeo Grounds, and features bronco, bull, steer, and sheep riding for kids and adults.

The Bryce Canyon Country Rodeo is held each Wednesday through Saturday at 7 p.m. from Memorial Day to the end of August, while tickets can be purchased at the Ruby’s Inn lobby.
