Summer in southern Utah is an opportunity for visitors and residents to take to the outdoors to explore parks and destinations like Zion National Park and Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. What's more, communities from St. George to Cedar City, Bryce Canyon City, and Beaver welcome this season's visitors with more special events, festivals, and family-friendly activities than ever.
No visit to southern Utah is complete without an exploration of at least one of the state's five mesmerizing national parks, and late-August visitors can get in free. From August 27th through 30th, it's the way park officials urge visitors and residents to take in some of the most mesmerizing examples of the Great Outdoors.
No need to bring a tent – La Verkin and Mount Carmel are just a short drive from Zion National Park, and, to the northeast, Bryce Canyon City serves as the gateway to the breathtaking Bryce Canyon National Park.
In the mean time, visit when the the National Park Service hosts its annual GeoFest at Bryce Canyon National Park on July 15th and 16th. It's a weekend full of guided hikes, kid's activities, bus tours, and more.
With summer comes the return of the Utah Shakespearean Festival. The 2016 iteration of the ever-popular series promises performances of some of Bill's most beloved classics at Adams Shakespearean Theatre, Randall L. Jones Theatre, and Beverly Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts in Cedar City. Check local listings for individual show times.
