Cedar City greets Utah travelers headed south on Interstate 15 with events, activities and services ideal to launch a southern Utah adventure. Home of the Utah Summer Games, get ready for your favorite sports with 2013 events June 6th through 30th. Cedar City’s 2013 Utah Shakespeare Festival begins late June with Twelve Angry Men, Love’s Labour’s Lost, and King John among the 2013 performances. Southern Utah University launches into spring with the Thunderbird Film Festival in April, with PRCA Rodeo brings championship Rodeo to Cedar in June. Also in June, Cedar City hosts the multi-day celebration of American Music at Groovefest in Main Steer Park.
The temperate weather of St. George makes Utah’s Dixie a nice spring destination. The 34th Annual St. George Art Festival is held March 29th and 30th at the St. George Town Square. The 2013 is produced by the City of St George and include featured artist Scott Yelonek, along with over 110 artists from across the US. Two stages featuring live entertainment add to the festival atmosphere, along with festival food and the Kid’s Creation Station.
May 4th brings the 2013 Ford Ironman 70.3 to St. George. Ironman St. George is a regional Ironman TriClub Championship race through the spectacular scenery of southwestern Utah. The swim takes place in Sand Hollow Reservoir outside the town of Hurricane, the bike takes riders crosses Red Hill Bluff and through Snow Canyon State Park, the run finishes the competition with a course through Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, ending in the heart of St. George on Main Street.
Enjoy a traditional small town Fourth of July in Kanab. The county seat of Kane County, Kanab celebrates the fourth with a community chuck wagon breakfast, parade, street fair and BBQ. Top off a big day of fun with entertainment, dancing and fireworks. Celebrate with an authentic Independence Day in Kanab.
The 2013 Top of Zion Relay rewards participants with a course through the amazing parks, natural wonders and outdoors of southern Utah. Held June 28th and 29th, the relay features a 194.5-mile course. Top of Zion begins in scenic Capitol Reef National Park. The course takes teams across Boulder Mountain, into the Dixie National Forest, through the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, and Bryce Canyon among the highlights.
