Visiting St. George & Southern Utah

For southern Utah visitors, getting outdoors is a must this season. Summer sunshine ignites the looming limestone of Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park, making already-rich red rocks shine a more vibrant red than any other time of year. Communities throughout the region respond to the beautiful weather by hosting a wealth of special events and festivals. Add it all up and a summer visit to southern Utah is more enticing than ever.

Bryce Canyon City visitors can take advantage of a unique way to experience Bryce Canyon National Park, July 31st through August 1st, when the National Park Service hosts the 6th Annual Bryce Canyon GeoFest. Bring the whole family – it's a weekend full of guided hikes, kids' activities, bus tours, and more.

La Verkin and Mount Carmel visitors won't want to miss their chance to explore Zion National Park for free. On August 25th, in honor of the National Park Service's birthday, visitors get to access the iconic park without the price of admission.

South of Mount Carmel in Kanab, the spirit of the Old West lives on, and the 2015 Western Legends Roundup is a celebration of just that. Held at various locations throughout the town from August 27th through the 29th, the Roundup is a weekend of western-themed films, music, poetry and more.

Everyone knows Park City is a mecca for movie buffs when the Sundance Film Festival comes around in February, but DOCUTAH 2015, also known as the Southern Utah International Film Festival, is set for September 8th through 12th, as towns like Kanab and St. George host documentary film screenings, awards ceremonies, discussion panels, and more. Check local schedules during your southern Utah visit – screening and event times vary by day and location.

Say goodbye to summer in St. George, as cowboys and cowgirls saddle up for the 81st Annual Dixie Lions Roundup, September 17th through 19th. Held at the historic St. George Sun Bowl, the popular rodeo festival features PRCA-approved rodeo competitions, a special kids' night, and more.
