Visiting St. George & Southern Utah
Southern Utah communities from St. George to Cedar City, Bryce Canyon City, and Beaver celebrate springtime with a wealth of outdoor fun. Special events, annual festivals, and all kinds of family-friendly activities – It's the perfect time of year to see the southern side of the Beehive State.
No visit to southern Utah is complete without an exploration of at least one of the state's five mesmerizing national parks, and mid-April visitors can get in free. From April 16th through the 24th, the 2016 Free Entrance Days celebrate National Park Week. La Verkin and Mount Carmel are just a short drive from Zion National Park, and, to the northeast, Bryce Canyon City serves as the gateway to the breathtaking Bryce Canyon National Park.
St. George is full of life this season and, on the first Friday of every month, the city is especially active. Starting around 6 p.m., Main Street is abuzz with art, music, food, and more as local galleries, venues, and eateries showcase local artists and performers as part of the 2016 St. George Streetfest on Main. Check the schedule this season to make sure you don't miss special appearances by the Zion Brewing Company and Food Truck Village.
On April 30th, the 2016 Bike Safety Fest is essential for families visiting Kenab with young cyclists. Learn the basics at the Bike Safety Rodeo, head out on group bike rides, or just hang out and enjoy the food and music. It all starts at 7 a.m. in downtown Kenab.
And more family-friendly fun comes a couple weeks later – on May 14th, the 2016 Amazing Earthfest Parade of Parks is a lively festival held at Center and Main Street in Kanab. Find festival activities, a parade, live music, special events, and more. Get there early to be a part of it all – things get started at 10 a.m.
Ready for some rodeo action? On June 13th and 14th, the 2016 Cedar City PRCA/WPRA Championship Rodeo comes to Cedar City Rodeo Arena. Broncos start buckin' at 8 p.m. both nights.
With summer comes the return of the Utah Shakespearean Festival. The 2016 iteration of the ever-popular series promises performances of some of Bill's most beloved classics at Adams Shakespearean Theatre, Randall L. Jones Theatre, and Beverly Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts in Cedar City. Check local listings for individual show times.
